《基因髮廊－等候室》 是 Genetic Salon 系列中的虛擬互動展覽與影像作品。作品以一個不存在的未來服務空間為背景，想像在一個身體、性別與身份被理解為流動的時代，同時又與一切都可被量化、預測和優化的大數據時代並存時，人們如何等待被重新設計。

基因髮廊建構出一間介乎髮廊、實驗室、醫療診所與科技公司的虛擬機構。它承諾或許有一天，人可以像修剪頭髮一樣，隨意而徹底地修剪自己：調整身體、性格、能力、疾病風險，甚至命運。這個承諾既誘人，也危險；它像一個遙遠的科幻夢想，也像一則關於未來身體政治的警告。

在 《基因髮廊－等候室》 中，五位接待女郎分別出現在潔白、明亮而空曠的等候室裡，講述她們各自的故事，帶領觀眾進入這個未來想像。觀眾並不是以線性方式觀看影片，而是在網上互動展覽中自行選擇錄像片段的觀看次序。這種隨機選擇的遊戲性，呼應了科技世界裡看似自由、實則充滿不確定性的選項系統。

等候室在作品中成為一種時間狀態。觀眾與接待女郎一起等待，經驗時間變得柔軟、緩慢、懸置。然而，不管等待多久，未來仍然撲朔迷離，無法被完全預測。作品追問：當改變身體被包裝成服務，當命運被想像成可供選擇的項目，我們願意為一個更完美、更獨特的自己等待多久？而這份等待，究竟是希望、消費，還是一種新的控制？

Genetic Salon – Waiting Room is a virtual interactive exhibition and video work within the Genetic Salon series. Set in a fictional future service space, the work imagines what it means to wait for redesign in an age that embraces the fluidity of body, gender, and identity, while also moving towards a world in which everything can be quantified, predicted, and optimised through data.

Genetic Salon constructs an imaginary institution somewhere between a hair salon, a laboratory, a medical clinic, and a technology company. It promises that perhaps one day we will be able to trim ourselves as easily and completely as getting a haircut: adjusting our bodies, personalities, abilities, health risks, and even destiny. This promise is seductive and dangerous at the same time. It is a distant science-fiction dream, but also a warning about the future politics of the body.

In Genetic Salon – Waiting Room, five receptionists appear in bright, empty white waiting rooms, each leading the audience into the future world of Genetic Salon through her own story. The audience does not watch the work in a fixed linear order. Instead, the online interactive exhibition allows viewers to select and encounter different video clips themselves. This element of uncertain play echoes the logic of the Genetic Salon world, where choice appears flexible, yet remains shaped by systems that cannot be fully known.

The waiting room becomes a state of time. Together with the receptionists, the audience waits as time becomes softer, slower, and suspended. Yet no matter how long one waits, the future remains confusing and difficult to predict. The work asks how long we are willing to wait for the promise of becoming more perfect, more unique, or more acceptable. When bodily transformation is offered as a service, is waiting a form of hope, consumption, or control?
