The whole worldview of the “Genetic Salon” narrative explains that this future preceives genes as the basis for dominating everything; it is also the currency of circulation. Gene manipulation paves the way to a more ideal existence, and lends us a chance to get a taste of living as a non-human species. On the technological trajectory towards artificialization, the notion of the natural has become the enemy of this world.

Yu showed the story of Genetic Salon and five receptionists in her solo online exhibition of Post-Human Narratives. This time, the historical events that are involved in the Genetic Salon will be uncovered one by one by the brushing away of the layers of sand. Below lies newspapers, revealing historical scenarios that have occurred and may occur, and how they have triggered the emergence of this future.
